Tuesday's weather

Todays conditions and fishing report

Temperature: 42°F
Wind: W wind at 7mph gust up to 13
Humidity: 58%
Dew Point 25°
Pressure: 29.67"

Today is another unusually warm day.  It's been mostly cloudy as stratocumulus clouds have hidden the sun, however it appears to be clearing up as I'm writing this. Only a few trailing cumulus clouds remain as clear sky's are appearing in the west.

Conditions for trout fishing are even better today, the stable warm air mass and the cloud cover means near perfect fishing conditions for this time of year. With midges hatching on the surface and fish actively feeding on sub surface nymphs theres a good chance for a spectacular day on the water.  It's really a shame my fly rod is sitting in the closet right now.

As were enjoying this warm spell freezing cold air is moving across Europe, Russia, and China causing temperatures to drop to -35°F in central mongolia.  Major snow fall has also occurred across Europe here's a link to a video about the current snow storms.

Monday's Weather

Todays Conditions and the fishing report

Temperature: 38°F
Wind: south wind at 2mph with gusts up to 13mph
Humidity: 76%
Dew Point: 26°F
Pressure: 29.71"

Today was a warm and sunny winter day.  The Temperature was up significantly from yesterday becoming well above average for January. Cloud cover was limited to thin wispy cirrus clouds.  A calm wind from the south has brought us warm air that looks like it will stick around, hopefully producing another mild day tomarrow to end the month. The trout fishing season in Minnesota's drift less area remains open all winter.  The spring fed streams stay ice free and on these rare January thaws the fishing can be fantastic.  As the air warmed up today so did the water most likely triggering a hatch of winter midges a delicious snack for the trout.  Today would have been an excellent day to be out on the water the fish would have been active and wiling to take a fly!
